How do I sign up?
You sign up using your email address and choosing your school district or school from the drop down menu and then selecting the school(s) under your disrict. Your account is password protected. You then fill other details like your name etc. You will then receive a verification email to verify your email address. This double opt-in verification increases safety standards.
Why do I have to use my real name?
Every user must sign up with their real first and last name, which builds trust with fellow users and fosters better communication. Our Terms of Service clearly requires this.
What happens next?
Once SchoolPinnd approves your member request, you will receive a Welcome email and can begin posting.
How can my school/district be included on SchoolPinnd?
There are three methods: 1) If there is a critical number of parents in a school/district who want to create and grow a network on SchoolPinnd, can contact us. 2) A school organization (for example, PTOs, PFAs) or a parental organization (for example, home-schoolers) who would like to use SchoolPinnd and it's features, please contact us. 3) SchoolPinnd account can be created for a school district and all the schools associated with it or can also be created for private or independent schools. Please email us at info@schoolpinnd.com if you are interested in becoming a part of this unique platform.
What is a Benefit Company?
SchoolPinnd is an independent and private Pennsylvania registered Benefit LLC company, which means 'Business with a Mission'. A B-Corp is a social enterprise with a corporate purpose of creating public benefit and operate in a socially and/or environmentally responsible manner and be more credible and transparent. How does the free membership work?
We are in the pilot phase since January 2018, you can sign up completely free right here on our website, no credit card needed, no hassle, no contracts. Our goal is to provide you with this valuable service and that you make the best use of it!
How do I change my selected school(s) within my district?
Once you are a member, you can easily change your selected school(s) by going to that school’s tab and clicking on “Request Membership”. We know that this scenario can occur when your child moves from elementary to middle or middle to high school.
Who has access to the information on my SchoolPinnd website?
Your school’s SchoolPinnd website is accessible only to users who have created a login and are a part of your school. The access is always password protected.
Can I invite my friends and neighbors to join SchoolPinnd?
Yes, please help us spread the word by inviting your friends, neighbors and fellow parents of your school district or school. On the platform, you can easily do this by clicking on ‘Invite Friends’ tab and entering their emails or via Facebook.
Which school districts/schools are on SchoolPinnd?
Although, we would have been super excited to include all schools under SchoolPinnd, but since we are just starting out (and have always believed in lean methodology), we will have few school districts in this phase and then expand. Please feel free to contact us at info@schoolpinnd.com regarding any related questions. So please continue to express your interest and let us know. You can do this in two ways, one, by signing up on the website or two, by sending us a message at the bottom of the website homepage. We are keeping a log and will try to include schools/districts with most interest in Phase 2.
Is SchoolPinnd for primary or secondary school parents?
SchoolPinnd is used by parents of elementary, middle or high school kids, since we believe that information exchange and awareness constantly stay with the parents.
What personal information is shared with other users?
If you post a message, only your name, school name, and photo will be shared. Users will not see any detailed profile information unless you have explicitly allowed it in your settings. You have the option to choose visibility of either ‘Private’ or ‘Your SchoolPinnd members’. The only exception is, if you comment on a blog, only your name and photo may be visible publically.
Can I deactivate, delete and reactivate my account?
Yes, you can deactivate your account, no data will be deleted. You can reactivate your account also. When you delete your account, all your data will also be deleted from the site.
Who do you use for payments?
We use Stripe for payment gateway, analytics, and other business services. Stripe collects identifying information about the devices that connect to its services. Stripe uses this information to operate and improve the services it provides to us, including for fraud detection. Can I cancel my membership?
Yes, you can delete your membership at any time, no hassle, very simple. Your account will be deleted; you can always create your account again at your convenience.
Is SchoolPinnd mobile responsive?
SchoolPinnd can be accessed through your mobile device, desktop, laptop or any other device via its website and it is completely mobile responsive.
Who can post on SchoolPinnd’s Blog?
The blog is posted by SchoolPinnd. Any SchoolPinnd member can comment on a blog post. Please note that only your name and photo will then be publically visible. We welcome blog posts from our members and followers, please contact us and we would be happy to publish it.
